Sweating and electrolytes are inextricably linked. During sweating, horses lose not only fluid, but also important body salts, better known as electrolytes. It is essential to replenish these electrolytes in a timely manner. Electrolyte deficiency can result in muscle cramps, fatigue, reduced energy and work appetite. In severe cases it can even lead to dehydration.
Complete electrolyte mix
Pavo E'lyte is a complete electrolyte supplement that contains all the necessary body salts in the correct balanced amounts. The proportions are especially important for a good supplementation. In addition, Pavo E'lyte contains extra magnesium, a mineral that is also lost during sweating. Magnesium plays a crucial role in various bodily processes and the importance of sufficient magnesium should not be underestimated.
Feeding tip Pavo E'lyte
Horses often have to get used to the taste of electrolytes. Start with a small amount and build this up. Mix Pavo E'lyte through the feed, for example through mash. For difficult eaters, adding apple sauce or apple juice sometimes helps. It is also possible to administer it through an empty, cleaned worm syringe, e.g. mixed with apple sauce.
