Bates Stock Stirrup Leathers

Bates Stock Stirrup Leathers are designed to complement your Bates Kimberley Saddle and feature the customary 1 1/4 inch width with a superior webbing core for added strength. A traditional sleeve enables you to ride with the buckle near the stirrup iron. Due to the more relaxed riding position of a stock saddle, with the rider's lower leg in a more forward position, it is usually more comfortable to utilise traditionally designed stirrup leathers.

Correctly placing the sleeve onto the Bates Stock Stirrup Leathers
  1. Start with the stirrup leathers completely unfolded and the sleeve separate.
  2. Thread the pointed end of the stirrup leathers through the sleeve, with both logos facing toward you.
  3. Run the sleeve all the way up the stirrup leathers to just below the buckle.
Adding the stirrup iron and buckling the leathers
  1. Thread the pointed end of the stirrup leather through the eye of the stirrup iron with the logo facing down.
  2. Pull the pointed end of the stirrup leather through the eye and bring it up through the sleeve and behind the buckle.
  3. Secure the buckle at the desired length.
  4. Pull the pointed end of the stirrup leathers through the buckle and down through the sleeve.
  5. Both logos should now be visible once more.
Pulling the buckle down
  1. Loosely hold the top of the stirrup leathers, behind the buckle.
  2. As there is a lot of leather to pull down, it is easier at this stage to use your hand as a temporary stirrup bar than to put the leathers onto your saddle’s stirrup bar.
  3. Pull the buckle down toward your stirrup iron.
  4. The sleeve should now be snug against the iron with the buckle sitting just above the sleeve.
  5. If the eye on your stirrup iron is big enough, thread the excess through the eye once more. Alternatively, fold the excess under the top of the stirrup iron.
  6. To finish, tuck the remaining length back up through the sleeve to secure.
  7. From here, you can attach the stirrup leathers to your saddle and make any further adjustments to length as required, using the steps above.
