Pat Parelli's eerste mentor was Troy Henry uit Clovis, Californië. Troy gebruikte altijd een 45-foot line. Je moest heel atletisch en mobiel zijn om deze tool te gebruiken. Toen Pat in het begin van de jaren tachtig met zijn clinics begon, ontdekte hij dat deze lasso een geweldige tool kan zijn, maar niet altijd handig is voor een beginner. Daarom werden de 12 en 22 foot lines ontwikkeld, zo kan je de afstand stilletjes aan opbouwen.

Het verschil tussen de trainingslijn van 45 foot en de andere is het materiaal. De kortere touwen zijn gemaakt van heel sterk materiaal, maar ze zijn zwaarder.

Werken met een 45-foot touw heeft een psychologisch effect op paarden. Ze kunnen namelijk uitstekend afstand en toenadering inschatten, en ze vinden het verbazend hoe je als mens vanaf een afstand zo effectief en communicatief kunt zijn.

Le premier professeur de Pat Parelli était Troy Henry de Clovis  (Californie). Troy utilisait toujours un lasso de 45 pieds (+/- 13,7 m). Il faut être assez mobile et athlétique pour l’employer. Quand Pat a débuté dans les années quatre-vingt avec ses cours, il s’est réalisé que ce lasso est un outil formidable, mais pas toujours facile pour un débutant. Pour y remédier il a développé les longes de 12 pieds et de 22 pieds (décrites ci-dessus), pour graduellement apprendre à travailler à distance avec le cheval.

La différence entre une longe de 45 pieds et les autres outils réside dans le matériel employé. Les longes plus courtes sont fabriquées en matériel très solide mais plus lourd.

Le travail avec un lasso de 45 pieds a un effet psychologique sur le cheval. Ceux-ci peuvent parfaitement estimer la distance et le rapprochement, aussi il est étonnant comment, en tant qu’humain, il est possible de travailler d’une manière effective et communicative d’une telle distance.

45-foot Ground Training Line

It is an essential tool for developing your horsemanship skills on the ground from greater distances, particularly from Levels 3 to Level 4 On Line, as you advance

-  Also called: 45-Foot Line; 45-Foot Lariat; 45-Foot Lariat Rope
-  45-Foot Triple X softened 3/8-inch diameter lariat rope for horse handling.
-  Honda loop on the end for quick-change accessories (for example a snap or karabiner).
- This kit includes an extra snap to use with this honda (usually sold separately). The snap is a swivel to prevent tension and stop the rope coiling up under the horse's chin on his halter.
- This rope is good for wetter climates as the Lariat resists attracting dirt and water/getting soggy.
- Soft twist, similar to a good ranch type rope for doctoring or working with animals - not a stiff, roping rope.
- Keep playing with it until the wax is worn off and the rope is broken in.
- Great rope for simulations as it offers a lot of sensitivity and feel.
