Baro Bridle Black

The FRA Baro cavesson features a softly padded noseband with three movable rings. The headpiece is straight and softly padded behind the ears. The Baro cavesson is fully adjustable at the cheekpieces, chin strap, and jaw strap. The bridle is larger than standard sizing. The Baro cavesson is supplied without reins; these are available separately in our shop. The Baro cavesson is compatible with System 3 of the Freedom Riding Articles bitless bridle.

History of the bridle:

In the 17th century, the use of the cavesson was commonplace. The Grand Master of Horsemanship, La Guirieniere, wrote extensively about it in his book "Escole de Cavalerie." Other Grand Masters of the time also preached and described the use of the cavesson.

Adjusting the Baro bridle.

The noseband should fit snugly, leaving at least one finger's width between the horse's head and the noseband. This prevents slippage and ensures optimal grip. The height on the noseband varies depending on the horse. It should be at least one finger's width from the cheekbones, but not too low to obstruct the airway. The cavesson does not have a browband. The cheek strap provides stability and should be fitted tightly to prevent the cheekpieces from rubbing against the eyes.
