Our starting point for Combi was different. We identified the systematic deficiencies and added only the following in sufficient quantities:

Blood analysis, which is usually used to determine mineral deficiencies in horses, is not the correct method for diagnosing these deficiencies. Scientific research shows that for most minerals, there is no correlation between blood levels and levels in the body's cells (where the minerals ultimately have to do their work!). A better method is mane analysis. Based on this, it has been determined that the minerals most horses are deficient in are iron, manganese, selenium, and cobalt. In a significant number of our horses, the levels for these minerals are alarmingly low.

Iron's main function is blood production. Manganese's essential functions lie in the construction of cartilage and skeletal structure. Some enzyme systems, particularly oxidases and transaminases, require manganese for their function. Selenium is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, and it acts as an antagonist against toxic heavy metals by eliminating them through the formation of soluble complexes. Selenium is important for thyroid metabolism, and low levels also cause problems with muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Cobalt plays a role in red blood cell production (oxygen transport), the repair of myelin in the nervous system, and the functioning of the pancreas.

B vitamins (B1, B2, B6, B12) are a group of water-soluble vitamins that play a role in extracting energy from nutrients and in cellular metabolism. B12 is stored in the liver. Deficiencies in B vitamins prevent the liver from functioning properly.

Vitamin E (D-alpha tocopherol, the natural form; not a racemic chemical mixture) is an antioxidant. It protects against the harmful effects of free radicals, which damage cells, tissues, and organs. Vitamin E also plays a role in neurological functions and the immune system. Deficiencies can lead to ataxia and myopathy. In our experience, many horses exhibit vitamin E deficiencies, either usually or during certain periods of the year.

MSM has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also an important organic sulfur compound. Various hormones, enzymes, proteins, and the structure and strength of cartilage, skin, and hair depend on the body's sulfur concentration. Sulfur is also one of the most important mineral components of collagen, which is present in joints, tendons, and ligaments.

COMBI PLATINUM also contains a yeast extract enriched with Co-enzyme Q10. Co-enzyme Q10 works not only on muscles, tendons, and ligaments but also on all other organs of the body.
