The skin-caring Elper Horse Balm supports the skin's self-healing capacity. It is composed of 100% natural ingredients. After massaging in, the balm works powerfully and deeply, positively contributing to skin repair and the overall health of the skin tissue itself.

Excipients versus active ingredients

Ointments, in general, require a stabilizing "carrier." This substance allows the balm to be applied with its main active ingredients without slipping or evaporating, but rather being effectively absorbed. These active ingredients have been scientifically researched and recognized; their properties contribute to and determine how the balm works on the skin. Ultimately, the results depend on the choice of the active ingredients.

Development

The starting point for developing the elper balm was the requirement to create a 100% natural, skin-friendly ointment. This meant that the carrier itself had to match the body's own lipids that nourish and condition animal skin. Our laboratory achieved this by developing a formula combined with "wool fat," in addition to the plant-based carrier oils described below.

Wool fat or lanolin as a carrier...it's so obvious
The name already suggests that it refers to the fat released when washing sheep's wool. In fact, it's the natural fat from a sheep's fleece! It's this fat that gives a sheep its natural protection. It bonds the wool fibers, seals the fleece, and thus protects the sheep from dehydration, moisture evaporation, and the effects of the weather.
Furthermore, lanolin protects against bacteria and other pathogens. Once refined into a body care product, lanolin is also commonly referred to as lanolin. We will continue to use the term lanolin.
The skin of mammals in general is protected and nourished by their natural sebum. This includes our horse's, and our own! For example, the gray matter on a horse's coat is "skin oil," and this protective layer shields it from cold and moisture. The result of choosing wool grease is that the skin easily absorbs the "elper balm" with its active ingredients, while simultaneously being nourished and protected!

Additional main ingredients
In addition to the described animal component wool fat, as already mentioned, vegetable carrier oils complement this and together form the final basic composition.
This supplement to the wool fat consists of organic, cold-pressed sunflower seed oil ( Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil ). This nourishing oil is easily absorbed by the skin, making it a perfect base oil for the active ingredients.

In addition, marigold macerate ( Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract ) was chosen. This flower is known for its beneficial properties; it soothes the skin and helps it recover. Finally, shea butter, from the West African shea nut or karite tree ( Butyrospermum Parkii ), has a softening and smoothing effect on the skin. By supplementing this base with specifically selected active ingredients, a unique ointment was born: the FNA® Elper Horse Balm.

Active ingredients
The Elper balm achieves its full effectiveness by supplementing the supporting base ingredients with a group of purely natural essential oils.

Peppermint ( Mentha Arvensis )

Promotes blood circulation and is good and refreshing for the muscles.

Arnica ( Arnica Montana )

Arnica helps regenerate tissue and is a good choice for treating all types of wounds resulting from a blow, fall, stab, or cut. It is excellent for muscle and tendon injuries.

Rosemary ( Rosmarinus Officinalis )

Promotes healing in cases of swelling, expands tissue, and stimulates blood circulation. Bactericidal and antifungal properties.

Tamanu ( Calophyllum Inophyllum )

Protects against sunlight, stimulates blood circulation, has an antispasmodic effect and regenerates tissue.

Eucalyptus ( Eucalyptus Globulus )

Extracted from the leaves of the eucalyptus tree, it has antibacterial and antifungal properties. It is used to treat wounds, insect bites, and inflammation.

Elemi ( Canarium Luzonicum )

Obtained from the tropical tree Canarium luzonicum, it stimulates resistance, has a mild anaesthetic and supports the recovery of bruises and inflammation.

Wintergreen ( Gaultheria Procumbens )

Extremely pain- and spasmolytic, bactericidal, anti-inflammatory and vasodilatory, has a very preventive effect and is strongly caring.

Tea Tree ( Melaleuca Alternifolia )

Powerful antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties. Soothes pain and relieves insect bites. Strengthens the immune system. Protects the skin from the sun and provides pain relief for burns and abrasions.

Niaouli ( Melaleuca Viridiflora )

The tea tree's little brother is not missing, ideal skin tonic.

Strawflower ( Helichrysum Italicum)

It has strong self-healing and stimulating properties for blood vessel-related damage and trauma. It is antispasmodic, wound healing, and has antibacterial properties.

Properties
Each of the aforementioned essential oils contributes to the effectiveness of the ointment through its individual or synergistic (combined, strengthening) properties. After a specific massage, the oil works deeply and penetrates into and beneath the skin, promoting healthy blood circulation. This supports the horse's natural self-healing process. The antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and regenerative essential oils optimally contribute to this natural restoration of skin resilience. The ointment thus helps alleviate symptoms associated with sensitive and damaged skin. It also specifically soothes and soothes problems caused by insect bites.
