Parelli strives to make communication with your horse as effective as possible. To achieve this, it's best to use:
- a Parelli rope halter
- a Parelli carrot stick with savvy string (as an extension of your arm)
- a Parelli lead rope of approximately 3.7m (12ft Line)
As you progress through the Parelli program, you will play with your horse at greater distances, e.g. via:
- a Parelli rope of about 6.8m (22ft Line)
- a Parelli lasso of about 14m (45ft line)

Is your horse young, outgoing, or explosive? Then it's better to use a 22-foot line for groundwork, so you can create more distance between you and your horse.
